My Story
As a little girl, I always wanted to be a pediatrician. During high school, I became certified as a nursing assistant, and my first job was as a physical therapy aide in a hospital. I loved it. I loved helping people feel and move better, so I went to college to become a physical therapist. While I was waiting to apply to physical therapy school, I took a job in a chiropractic office. From my first day there, I fell in love with the concept of chiropractic. Instead of just fixing what was hurting, it was about looking at the whole body and finding the cause of the problem. Being a chiropractor blends my love of caring for people with my passion for helping them live at their best health potential possible, based on their individual needs.
Within a few years of being a chiropractor, I realized that young people were coming in with chronic conditions, pain, and sickness. I could not help but think that if I could have started working on them when they were younger, or right after their first injury, maybe they would be in better health now. That is when I began my journey to study and discover all I could about chiropractic and children. I have earned a Diplomate Status in Chiropractic Pediatrics.
This journey has changed my life. It has allowed me to incorporate chiropractic into every aspect of my life. I am a mom of an amazing boy who was born at home without any medical intervention. He is adjusted regularly and is outrageously healthy because of it. We had a long amazing breastfeeding journey. It was during this journey that I learned all about cranial sacral therapy and its wonderful effects on babies. I am certified in Upledger’s CranioSacral Therapy and have many hours of post graduate work in Chiropractic Cranial Adjusting. For us, chiropractic is a lifestyle. The chiropractic adjustment is what we turn to first for wellness, illness, and injury.
I also relate well to my patients in another way. I have herniatied discs in my low back and significant arthritis in some joints. However, with chiropractic care and restorative exercises, I am able to have the least amount of time consumed around the problem and functionally live the lifestlye I want without any medical intervention. I have trained for and participated in triathlons and 100-mile bike rides, constantly learning what our bodies are capable of. My family and I turn to chiropractic first in any health situation.
